QUOTE(ROOK Master wiz @ Oct 25 2006, 03:05 PM) Ok let me do a sorta side by side comparisson of the 2 systems. this is what you would need to really make the 2 even as far as disc copacity online wirelessly etc etc. Remember the 360 only uses regular old dvd discs while the PS3 uses blueray which is about equal to HD DVD quality. Xbox360 cost = $400 ...........................................PS3 cost = $600 Hd DVD player cost = $200 ..................................BR player cost = Included Wireless online cost = $100 ..................................Wireless online cost = Included Controller battery charger cost = $20 to $30 ............Controller battery charger cost = Included/USB
Price total = around $700+ dollars .............................Price total = $600
Now what costs more? IMO the PS3 = the better overall deal
Also keep in mind that the PS3 comes w/ a 60 gig hdd while the 360 only comes w/ a 20 so to equal it out since you can't buy a 60 gig HDD or even a 40 gig HDD you would have to buy 2 more 20 gig HDD's and those are $100 a piece adding on another $200 to the final package of the 360. this would bring your total to just over $900. I believe the PS3 is the better buy.
Heres the thing though. The average video game player ANYWHERE doesn't own an HDTV or care about one. The average console owner doesn't play online. So, take away the blue ray, hddvd drives and wireless. Which one is the better deal to the average consumer then? Xbox360 cost = $400 ...........................................PS3 cost = $600 Controller battery charger cost = $15 ............Controller battery charger cost = Included/USB Game = $60..............................................................$60 Price total = around $465 dollars .............................Price total = $660 The shortages will just make people buy the other systems or just wait so they don't have to pay 3500+ for their console. So, instead of waiting until spring, why not just buy something you can play now. Or better yet, instead of being a retarded fanboy who only buys one thing, broaden your horizons and experiance something new. PS: Why does every pro PS3 topic become anti 360 and result in a giant dick hugging ball? Sony hasn't pwned shit yet. The console isn't out. Lets just wait until the system is released, and unbiased opinions are released.

Lets just wait until the system is released, and unbiased opinions are released. Ok you just said take away the blue ray and wireless and HD DVD. but here's the thing IT COMES W/ THE PS3 you can't take it away. thats why it's the better deal so if people do want that shit they don't have to spend hundreds on extra shit that takes up space. I knew some xbox fan boy would come in here and try to turn things around. the truth is your just blinded by your fan boy state. I own a xbox360 and I will own a PS3 so considering I own a 360 you can't call me a fan boy. I am just stating facts. also you forgot to include the HDD no matter how you look at it the PS3 is the overall long term better deal. and your math sucks. the lasdt time I checked $400+$15+%60 = $475 not $460. and if you took all those things away from a PS3 guess what it would be a hell of a lot cheaper then a 360. lets figure it this way. if an HD DVD drive costs $200 a BR drive is gonna cost way more. but for sake of argument lets say the BR drive costs the same as the HD DVD drive. so you would minus that $200 from the $600 all ready brining it to the same cost as the 360. and you still have the wireless internet HD connectivity and controller charger included. ok so now since the wireless thing for the 360 costs $100 we will take that away from the PS3 as well brining the cost down to $300. now take away the 60 gig HDD and even if that only costs $100 which is what the 360 20 gig costs that would bring the price down to $200 minus the $20 for the controller charger cord thing then the total cost of a PS3 would be $180 more then 2 times cheaper then a 360. imagine that...... No matter how you look at it the PS3 has everything in one bundle and theres no need to buy all this extra shit. and in order to make the 360 up to par w/ the PS3 you would infact be paying around $300 more on your 360 then a PS3.

I included the cost of the hard drive in the 360's price. My math sucks? %60 of 400 is 240 dollars. I understand why you added the extra objects (to make the consoles "even") but let me just say this again. THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT HD AND BLUERAY. You see how well UMD and Videonow are doing right? People stick to the shit that is familiar. They just got used to big screens and DVDs. I doubt that people will just transition instantly once the new formats are out. So, If you want that stuff, the PS3 is a better deal. Lets just agree to disagree. I will respect your opinion. You actually have good reasons to like the PS3. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20061010-7955.html Unbiased facts about HDTV ownership (20 % in the US. Less than 10% inn Europe.) and how it relates to games.

360 doesn't use HD-DVD for games. I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up yet. PS3 Takes full use of Blu-Ray. >.>
"You see how well UMD and Videonow are doing right?"
Don't forget how well Betamax did.

Don't forget how well Betamax did. The fact that the xbox only uses regular dvd games I think was all ready mentioned. now even leaving out the HD DVD or HD tv fact the PS3 is still the better deal because even if you don't use it you have it and can still play your regular dvd's as well. also your forgetting the 20 gig and 60 gig differences. so add on the extra 40 gigs and your at an even price and theres still the controller charger issue and the wireless internet issue. which would still bring the 360's price above the PS3's. Basing things on release prices is also kinda stupid. I mean people were paying outrageous prices for the 360 when they first came out to or have you forgotten? No matter which way you look at the PS3 is the better bang for your buck. also the PS3 is completely backwards compatible unlike the 360 which can play most regular xbox games but not all. but you believe what you want. I mean I dunno go pay $400 for an upgraded xbox w/ a upgraded market place graphics that are a tad bit better and um... hmmmm.... what else really is there thats different between the xbox and the 360?.... oh wait thats right it's repackaged into a bigger white box has a new name and hardly anything else.. it's basically like buying a PC for $300 then a few years later buying a brand new one for $400 when you could of upgraded it ofr less then $200. I mean in all honesty all I see from the 360 is an upgraded xbox. it brings nothing new to the console next gen table. except the graphics are better ok so it basically makes games look prettier. PS3 a nicely bundled all in one package that brings to you new tyechnology w/ out having to wait a year and paying hundreds of dollars more to get it. it offers next gen graphics which are comparable to the 360. it brings high definition quality to your HD tv. it offers wireless communication still in the same package w/ out chargning extra. it brings a new technology of sorts to it's vcontroller w/ the tilt axis. and theres no added battery pack to the controller you can just hook it up and charge it w/ the cables provided in the box.... now the PS3 brings more to the table over the PS2 then the 360 does over the regular xbox. that in itself makes it a better purchase. then theres the all might Wii. the most exciting and inspiring system of the next gen group. I mean it's completely backwards compatable all the way back to the regular NES. it does have better graphics then the game cube it has the completely wireless and motion censored controller that puts you in the game better then anyother console. ya it's graphics might not e all OMG and awe inspiring but the new technology's it brings to the table out surpass the 360 and the PS3 combined. nothing about it is similar to it's previous console. I am most excited about the Wii then the PS3 and since I have a 360. I was as disappoiinted as I knew I would be. oh and that was ment to be $60 not %60 I thought you would of been smart enough to figure that out on your own so I didn't bother editiing it. but I guess not.

QUOTE(jack0ff @ Oct 25 2006, 07:28 PM) JR. please shut
the
fuck
up im sick of this fucking wall o'text nobody gives a shit ok. PS3>XBOX360 anyday how many 1080p games does xbox360 have AT launch TILL now? 0 how bout PS3 AT launch? 6 and you call XBOX360 a NEXT-GEN??? when you cant even keep up with the current generation, which is 1080p HD. go back to fucking school son. ok so let me guess, your gonna say OH BUT MAJORITY OF PEOPLE DONT CARE ABOUT HD TV OR HD GRAPHICS. wow your fucktarded.
if you dont care about HD then why the fuck do you buy an xbox360? why dont u just stick to ur fucking old xbox or super nintendo 64 ok. go home
Because I am the minority. Everything else you said is right however. I don't feel like spending money on an HDTV yet, so I use my monitor. It displays 1080i just fine. I don't give a fuck about many movies besides the EVO, Super Battle Opera, and other fighting game tournaments. I'll get one with the money I'l make selling my 3 PS3s. And, I'll enjoy my games in either 720p or 1080i. I haven't seen much differance between the three formats (720p 1080i and 1080p) anyway. But, then again, there is no way for me to tell on King Kong, Random people footage, and closeups of people. And I still play my Xbox, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, PS1, Dreamcast, Genesis, Saturn, Gamecube, PS2, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy, Game Gear, CPS2 games, and my Atari. I play Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike more than any other game. I am already sticking to old consoles. And I am home. I will never shut the fuck up. Expect another 50 posts or so from me soon. You just turned me into a forum whore.

QUOTE(FeRgY @ Oct 25 2006, 09:08 PM) Find out the percentage of 360 owners that play online lol, you may want to add in that monthly price because to the average xbox owner, they do play online. So what would that be, $550 for an xbox 360 with online for the average console life (5 years, even though Gates cut off the original at 3 lol) and $500 for PS3.
Over 1.5 million now. And there are more people who just have silver accounts. So an average of 50 dollars for a year subscription times 1,500,000 equals ~$75,000,000. Since Xbox Live is growing and they expect to hit the 2 million mark soon then 2,000,000 times 50 equals $100,000,000. Wow, 100 million dollars on Xbox Live alone. I gotta see how much Blizzard makes on Warcraft and get some stocks in them. EDIT: Blizard is making ~ $1,260,000,000 a year on WoW. $180 a year times 7 million subscribers.

You basically prove my point. Side note: Blizzard wants to develop for PS3 if they do develop for consoles (very likely) so we may see some of their games Believe it or not, they prefer PS3 over 360 because of the online system lol.
