Yea you can still buy them even though they are real old.
They are real nice, but I've changed my mine, i'm currently bidding on a Dell DJ 20 GB mp3 player. Ends in 2 days. It's new and comes with some extra stuff (USB Cable, Media Disk, etc.) and is for less than $100 right now. =) Hopefully I will win the bid and be happy with my new player. =D My friend has one of these, I've never heard him complain about it or w/e.

No. I had bought one a while back and mines had freezing problems. The thing felt cheap as hell, and eventually, everything got erased.
The Ipod was fine. Especially for around 100. But, are you sure that all you want to do is listen to music? You may be able to find a nice mp3/video player for cheap.
