Ok so i want to upgrade my pc. I don't know if i should upgrade the RAM or the video card. I don't have like 400 bucks to spend either. I mean i don't want to run crysis or anything. But it would be nice to even run counter strike source on a nice res with good graphics. Also i would liek my non gaming applications to run smooth.

Some Specs
PC - HP slimline s7700n ( or soemthnig liek that)
Processor - AMD Anthlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ 2.00Ghz
OS- Windows Vista Home Premuim
RAM- 1 GB - 894mb and liek 128mb on video card
Video Card - Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE

I don't know what other specs to give.

Thank you to anyone who can help me out.

Are those your current specs?
If so get a Nvidia Geforce 8600
1gb Ram is enough for CSS

i was wondering if upgrading ram would help with FPS and upping the res. Also I need my non game programs to run smoother. ALso what would help for how long it takes to minimize and stuff and access task manager.

For minimizing, that would be partialy on ram, CPU, and video card.
The CPU you have now is decent, you could upgrade to a Quad Core.

You could get 1 more gig of ram, and have 2gb.

Well I see a couple of problems with your PC..

AMD Athlon (eww)

Windows Vista (EWW)

But anyway, running Vista you really need 2 gigs or more of ram.. because they made the OS so flashy... (idiots)
How much Ram is your video card? Is it dual channel?

I'm Running:
Windows XP Home Service pack 2 with updates
Intel Core2 Duo 2.20GHz

2 gigs ram

512 MB Geforce Dual Channel

I can run Doom 3 at nearly the highest setting... I don't have CSS

Bringing this topic from the dead, I have another question. How Do I find out how many volts my power supply is and how many volts needed for a GeForce 7600?

if it's a power supply that came w/ the pc it should say it somewhere in your book. if not take the side of the tower off and look at the sticker.

True.
Or you can use Rivatuner, SPEEDFAN to find out how many WATTS your PSU is.

For a 7600GT you won't need any more than like 400W to run it. I mean, a 500-600W PSU can run a 8800, even a ATI 4870.

I choose RAM, I am not tech savvy, but I have 3GB ram and I run all my apps smoothly.

Edit: Didn't read the actual replies, so I didn't really answer your question.
