Alright im trying to get on the Playstation Store and Login under the Friends tab on the XMB. The problem im getting is it says Connection to Playstation Network Timed Out. So I go and test my internet connection under the Network Settings on the PS3 and everything is okay until it gets to NAT Type. When it tries to find the NAT Type it says Failed and a message below say Conntection to server has timed out. (Something like that)

So if anyone knows about this problem or has a solution please reply here. Ive been trying to login the PS store all weekend and no luck becuase I cant find a solution for why NAT Type fails.

I would think its because too many people are trying to do it at the same time, but I dunno.

Take it a to friend's house and see if it works there. If it works, it's probably your router.

Have you tried directly connecting the PS3 to the modem?

It did becuase I searched around for NAT Type problems and I found a guide for XBOX Live that helped fix the problem. But well it wasnt a guide it was saying theres a program for XBOX Live to fix it or something.

Oh this Thursday im going up to my parents for Thanksgiving so I will take it then and try it on my dads router.

This is what it says:

Obtain IP Address: Succeeded
Internet Connection: Succeeded
Playstation Network: Succeeded
UPnP: Available
NAT Type: Failed <-----

And then below it says:
The connection to the server timed out.
(80130203)

Does that string of numbers mean anything?

Also when I try to sign in on the Playstation Store it says:
The connection with Playstation Network timed out.

This really sucks I hope its something simple to fix =/

email Playstation and see what they say or call that number.

I took mine to my friends place on the weekend and it worked fine. So Im guessing its either the modem or router.

I dont think that is a number to call lol. But im working with some people on the playstation forums to see if they can help me fix the problem.

Right now they are saying I need to change the DMZ and Port Forwarding IP Addresses to something other than what I have 192.168.1.100 but im not sure what to change .100 to so thats where Im at with them.

If it doesnt work I will email sony with that number string to see if it means anything to them...

Your router and modem are the same? My router is 192.168.2.1 and the modem is 192.168.1.1, it wouldn't work for me on the same ip.

Alright I hooked up my PS3 here at my parents and setup a internet connection. I connected to my dads linksys wireless router (its a different model than mine) and it worked. NAT Type: Type 3 is what it said. I checked his router settings and it didnt seem much different than mine.

Mine I have MTU set to Manual and UPnP set to enable. His MTU is set to Auto and UPnP is set to disable. Those are the only main differences I noticed...

His Defualt IP is 192.168.15.1 and mine is 192.168.1.1 (Idk if that has to do with it)
